Retired Nurse Professor Dr Nimet KARATAŞ: A Life Dedicated to Purity, Kindness, Compassion, Perseverance, Faith and Help

Abstract

Nimet Karataş was born in Avanos district of Nevşehir in 1945. She completed her primary and secondary education in Avanos and high school education in Nevşehir High School. In 1969, she graduated from Hacettepe University School of Nursing. Between 1970 and 1972, she received her Science Specialization degree in the Department of Public Health Nursing at Hacettepe University and completed her doctorate in nursing at the same university in 1977. In October 1994, she received the title of Associate Professor and was appointed as Professor in August 2000. She worked as a faculty member at Cumhuriyet University School of Nursing, Karadeniz Technical University Vocational School of Nursing, GATA School of Nursing, 19 Mayıs University Vocational School of Nursing, Erciyes University Vocational School of Nursing, and Fırat University Vocational School of Nursing and contributed to the development of these departments. Karataş contributed to undergraduate courses at Erciyes University Atatürk School of Health and worked in doctoral programs. In 2001, Karataş was appointed as the Director of Erciyes University Nevşehir Semra and Vefa Küçük School of Health and has published five books and numerous articles on public health and nursing. On 01.02.2020, she retired from Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University.
