In Memoriam: Dursun AVŞAR, Prof. Dr. (1956-2022)

Abstract

Dursun AVŞAR our esteemed scientist, teacher, dear friend, colleague, father (Ayşegül and Cemre), wife (Zübeyde) and grandfather (Sedef and Defne) Dursun AVŞAR passed away on 1 May 2022. Dursun Hodja was a pioneering marine biologist who made significant contributions to the fields of fisheries biology and population dynamics in Turkey. He was always ready to help, serious, hardworking, friendly, frugal, uncompromising, and detail-oriented. For us, who had the chance to get to know his family as well as share his professional experiences, four and a half AVŞAR (Dursun, Zübeyde, Ayşegül, Cemre, and Sedef) formed a unique, inseparable, and generous family nucleus.
